Deltarune Chapter 1 contains many secrets, but none are as challenging or rewarding as finding the hidden superboss Jevil. Locked away deep inside the Card Castle, this mischievous jester requires a multi-step quest to locate and unlock. Players looking to complete everything the game has to offer will need to hunt down three specific key fragments scattered across the Dark World.
Interacting with Jevil and Seam
Your journey begins near the end of Chapter 1 when you take the Card Castle elevator down to the questionably marked floor labeled floor floor. Here, you will find a mysterious set of bars where a chaotic voice speaks to you about a game. After listening to his cryptic dialogue, you must journey back to the very beginning of the Field area to speak with Seam at his shop. The veteran shopkeeper will provide context about the prisoner and hand over Broken Key A to help you start your quest.
Locating the Remaining Key Pieces
To acquire Broken Key B, you must navigate the forest area just past the Bake Sale warp door until you encounter the spinning dancer enemies. Carefully explore the lower section to find a hidden path leading south, which opens up into a clearing containing a chest with the second piece. The final fragment, Broken Key C, is locked behind a simple puzzle in the Field area that requires you to inputs a symbol sequence matching the layout of the castle floors.
Repairing the Key and Initiating the Showdown
Once all three broken items are safely in your inventory, head back to the Bake Sale area and speak with the smith Malius. He will forge the pieces back together into the Door Key, which is required to open the cell door. With the completed item in hand, descend back into the castle basement elevator floor to unlock Jevil's prison. Make sure your inventory is completely full of healing items before stepping inside, as this encounter will test your combat skills to their absolute limit.
